COME CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF INDIGENOUS THEATRE IN THE CITY OF SASKATOON!
The Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre is thrilled to announce our 20th Anniversary celebration taking place on April 11th, 2019 at 5:30 pm at the World Trade Center Saskatoon at Prairieland Park – Hall C.
This event will be a celebration of the successes that you have helped us to reach over the last 20 years and will feature entertainment from some of Canada’s most respected indigenous playwrights, our previous Artistic Directors, and some of our past Circle of Voices participants.
We will be beginning at 5:30pm with live music and a slideshow. At 6:15 there will be a prayer and honour song to officially open the celebration. Followed by a meal served at approximately 6:30pm, live music by Juno Award winner Chester Knight, a tribute to late Gordon Tootoosis, and a host of speeches from past artistic directors and former Circle of Voices participants. We are inviting all past participants of the Circle of Voices to attend this event as a bit of a homecoming so we can all see the many faces that have been influenced by the work of GTNT.
The Circle of Voices program has mentored youth from all across the province for over 16 seasons and remains our greatest achievement. Many of these youths have gone on to pursue higher education and many have continued their path in the artistic community with great success. GTNT has always been committed to giving a voice to First Nations, Metis, and Inuit stories and have presented many world premieres and original works by artists from these communities. These stories address social issues affecting the communities in which we live, and create greater societal awareness of our cultures and experiences.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through E-Transfer or Invoice by contacting Darlene Okemaysim-Sicotte at 306-933-2262 or email at
